Applications for Australia Awards Scholarships for study commencing in 2025 will open on 1 February 2024. So now is the time to start preparing for your application, including ensuring that you satisfy the necessary English language requirements.

For Bangladesh, Australia Awards Scholarships are offered for master’s degree study in fields agreed with partner government and aligned with Australia’s development, economic and public diplomacy priorities.

Potential applicants for an Australia Awards Scholarship in Bangladesh for study commencing in 2025 are encouraged to check their eligibility to assess whether they may satisfy the eligibility criteria for an Australia Awards Scholarship before they commence an application.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for an Australia Awards Scholarship, you must meet certain standards in English language proficiency, with the results valid as at 1 January 2025. At minimum, you must have:

  • an IELTS (Academic) overall score of at least 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; or
  • a TOEFL internet-based test (iBT) score of at least 84, with a minimum of 21 in all sub-tests; or
  • a PTE Academic overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50.

Scores must be submitted with the application.

Women, people with disability and those from ethnic minorities are permitted to submit an overall IELTS score of at least 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 (or equivalent TOEFL or PTE score). However, if selected for the Scholarship, they must meet the English language admission requirement of the relevant Australian institution.

Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students  The Australian Government’s Department of Education maintains a register of all Australian education providers that offer courses to people studying in Australia on student visas, and the courses that each provider offers.
Scholarship applicants must meet the English language proficiency requirements specified by Australia Awards for their country. DFAT will accept results from any of the following English language tests:
