Celebrating Australia Awards’ impact in Bangladesh in 2024

Australia Awards – Bangladesh has released its 2024 Year in Review, which showcases significant achievements and outcomes from last year. This document highlights Australia Awards’ impact through Scholarships, short-term training and alumni engagement.
Key highlights from the Year in Review for Bangladesh include
- Fifty-two Bangladeshis (24 women, 28 men) completed their degrees with the support of Australia Awards Scholarships, the most Bangladeshi scholars completing their courses since 2019.
- Fifty-nine diverse applicants (29 women, 30 men) from Bangladesh received Scholarships for study commencing in 2025.
- Australia Awards co-hosted a literacy conference and creative writing workshop that engaged 34 writers representing seven indigenous groups in Bangladesh.
- Six Bangladeshi scholars had the chance to network with Australian women leaders at the Scholars Forum, which had the theme of ‘Working Together for a Gender-Equal World’.
Reflecting on her Australia Awards experience, recently returned alumna Mitu Mariyam said, “The Master of Public Policy degree I completed with the support of an Australia Awards Scholarship has broadened my understanding of socio-economic development-related policymaking, equipping me to apply innovative solutions.”
“With this knowledge, I am dedicated to making a lasting impact on the socio-economic development of Bangladesh.”
